I know they have a reputation for being hardy and yet I half expected that we would kill them. But they seem to like their spot, which is sheltered from the south by the boundary fence and from the east by the trees in the reserve. We have tiny buds, new leaves and shoots coming out of the base.
We also have some kind of caterpillar curling up the leaves and chewing holes. I took some of the leaves into the nursery but the chap there couldn’t identify the culprit. We grabbed an organic spray so we’ll see how they respond to that.
While I am waiting for fruit (chuckle), I am collecting recipes.
